The members of Danes Worldwide‘s Board of Directors come from the business community, diplomatic ranks, and the world of culture. Most board members have personal experience as diplomats or as employees posted abroad.
Chair of the Board, Susanne Rumohr Hækkerup
Ms. Hækkerup is the CEO of Asia House. She holds a Master’s in History and Eastern European Studies. Served as secretary and Deputy Chief at the Embassy in Moscow 1993-96 and 1997-99 served as Section Chief for the Middle East Peace Process in the Ministry of Foreign Affaris.
2001 Section Chief in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2003 Secretary and Senior Secretary, then Deputy Chief at the Embassy in Beijing. 2007 Director of the DANIDA United Nations office. 2010-14 Ambassador of Denmark in Mexico with accreditation in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. Member of the Board of Directors for Danes Worldwide since 2018.
Deputy Chairman, Søren Brandt
Mr. Brandt has had a long career in shipping with Maersk. He is Vice President of Maersk Technology, handling strategy and portfolio management. 2006-2018 CEO, Maersk Global Shared Service Centre (during 2012-2017 in Mumbai, India). 1995-2005 CEO, Maersk Logistics; previous positions included executive roles in Maersk Line in Denmark, Iran, UAE and Thailand. Mr. Brandt has supplemented his Maersk shipping qualifications with leadship studies at such institutions as London Business School, INSEAD, and IMD Business School. Member of the Board of Directors for Danes Worldwide since 2018.
