Intermediate Danish is for you who already know some Danish, but would like to improve both orally and in writing. At the same time, you learn about Danish society, culture and history.

Here you can meet Bart, who has been a student at both Intermediate Danish B1 and B2.
How does the teaching take place?
On our online courses, the teaching can be followed when it suits you. This means that you log on to the teaching portal whenever you want and work independently with the assignments.
Each week there is a new task set, each of which takes approx. 90-120 minutes to solve.
As a student, you also have the opportunity every week to hand in either a written or an oral assignment, on which you will receive personal feedback.

Intermediate Danish B1
- get a grip on basic Danish grammar
- read texts at an intermediate level that give you an introduction to parts of Danish society as well as Danish culture and history

- expand your vocabulary so that you can more easily express yourself precisely in conversations and in writing in your everyday life.
Intermediate Danish B2
- immerse yourself in the details of Danish grammar
- read longer texts that enable you to understand central issues in Danish society and Danish culture
- watch videos where you hear authentic Danish as it is spoken in today’s Denmark
- expand your vocabulary so that you can more easily express yourself on complex topics
- improve your writing skills.
Time consumption
The lessons are designed so that you have to spend an average of 1.5 – 2 hours a week learning Danish. It can of course vary from student to student.
Course start and duration
We start 4 times a year. This enables you to start the course when it fits into your calendar. We start all periods every 10 weeks, so it is always possible to jump on the course you have reached – or to take a break if you wish.
Basic Danish B1 consists of four periods. Each term lasts 10 weeks. New teams start in all four periods every 10 weeks. Further with Danish B2 is an intensive course consisting of one period of 10 weeks, and it is a natural extension of Basic Danish B1 ‘s fourth period.
You can start both courses four times a year.
In the 2022/23 school year, periods start on these dates:

CERF-niveau
Intermediate Danish B1 corresponds to level B1 within the European reference framework for languages, CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Intermediate Danish B2 is at the level of level B2 within the European reference framework for languages, CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). In the teaching there is a focus on writing and reading.
Certificate
If you have actively participated in all periods of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation. The certificate certifies that you have taken part in a Danish course at B1 or B2 level at Danes Worldwide.

Get the most out of Intermediate Danish
- You are motivated and willing to solve the tasks
- We recommend that you do not solve all tasks in a task set on the same day, but that you log in at least twice a week. It is effective to go back through the tasks and repeat some of the exercises before moving on
- It is a great advantage if you have the opportunity to practice spoken Danish, e.g. with a family member or a colleague, while you are taking the course
Helpful skills and resources
- All instructions for the tasks are in Danish. Therefore, you must know Danish at a level so that you can read and understand the instructions, or you must have access to someone who can help with this
- You are used to navigating online, so you can find your way around our online portal ABC Danes
- You have access to a computer or tablet and a stable internet connection, so you can follow the lessons and hand in assignments
