Grade 9 Graduation

Get proof of your Danish language skills

How the test works

The 9th grade Danish exam tests students’ skills in several different areas of the Danish language. The test consists of four main parts, which together give a broad picture of the students’ competences.

Reading test

In the reading test, students must demonstrate their ability to understand, analyse and interpret texts. The test typically includes different text types such as short stories, articles and non-fiction texts. Students are tested on finding main messages, drawing conclusions and working with the structure and linguistic devices of the text.

Spelling test

The spelling test includes dictation, grammar and punctuation. In the dictation, students are read a text and have to write it down without errors. They also have to work on grammar and punctuation tasks, such as correcting mispronunciations or filling in missing words. The test tests students’ ability to write correctly and understand the structure of the language.

Written presentation

The written presentation is about writing a coherent and well-structured text based on a given task. Students can choose between different topics and genres, such as short story, essay, opinion piece or letter. The aim is to assess their ability to express themselves in writing, use linguistic devices and create a text that suits the recipient and the situation.

Oral presentation

Students have to present and discuss a topic that they have prepared in advance. The test includes both a presentation and a dialogue with the examiner and teacher, where students are assessed on their ability to communicate clearly, argue and incorporate knowledge from texts or other material they have worked with in class.
