With the introduction of the law on dual citizenship, Danes Worldwide won a battle we had been fighting for many years. However, the law remains inexpedient in some respects. For example, the rule that young expatriate Danes must apply to maintain their Danish citizenship before turning 22 years old. About half of our members have a foreign spouse or partner, and many experience great difficulty when seeking to live with their family in Denmark. Therefore, we have a strong focus on marriages across borders.
